How do they test for fibromyalgia - is it a blood test? Do you have to ask for it or is it something the doctor looks for when testing for lupus? Thanks!

Hi Christine,
They do not test you for fibromyalgia with a blood test. They Dx you by examining you and use what they call "trigger points".It was so many years ago that I was Dx but from what I recall it was very obvious to my doctors that I indeed did have fibromyalgia by the areas that I felt the pain.I am not current on the exact way that they "test" you for it but can for sure tell you it is not a blood test.I hope this helped you some!!!! What a Face Warmly, Barbara

BTW Chris.....doctors do not automatically test you or even suspect fibromyalgia unless you have some of the symptoms. Many sle patients do have fibro, but not all.Hope this helps some!!!! affraid
