Pain & Inflammation over ribs along sides
I have recently been experiencing tenderness and some swelling below my armpits. It is on both sides and is about the size of a half-dollar. For all the females out there (sorry Yardman)...it is right where a bra wraps around. It isn't due to my bra and I don't think it could be lymphnodes as I've had swollen lymphnodes in my armpits before. This is lower. I've had a recent mammogram and everything checked out good there, but as it is on both my right and left side, I wasn't too concerned.
I am wondering if you can get bursitis there. Does anyone have any ideas? Although, my asthma has been a real bother (it's 25 degrees below zero here right now) I don't care to head to the walk-in clinic as there has been some really bad viruses around....and I really don't care to be exposed!
If anyone has any ideas on what this might be, please let me know!
Hugs,
Beth

Re: Pain & Inflammation over ribs along sides
Hi Beth,
Sorry to hear you are in pain. I really have no clue, my first thought was lymphnodes, but you stated you don't think it's that. Does it hurt just down your sides, or acrossed your chest as well?
I totally understand you not wanting to go to the walk in clinic, usually that just adds more fuel to the fire for us. You don't need to be around all those germs! Why don't you give your doctors office a call, perhaps they can give you some ideas about what it can be. The nurse may be of some help.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Melissa

Re: Pain & Inflammation over ribs along sides
Hi Beth:
As everyone else said, I'm sorry you are experiencing this symptom and pain.
Could it be muscles? Did you lift anything that may have strained those muscles there?
Once, I had a chest wall virus (it was only on one side) that really was very painful - there was nothing they could do for it. They told me to apply heat to it and eventually, it got better on it's own.
Hope you get some answers soon and that it is nothing to worry about.
I agree with Yardman - I'd be crying too - if I had to endure that cold.
Hope you start feeling better.

Re: Pain & Inflammation over ribs along sides
Thanks everyone!
As far as the cold goes, I'm used to it. I was born and raised in the midwest. What I'm not used to is having Lupus, Raynaud's and asthma and having to deal with the cold! HEHE
Yardman: Your comment about the bra did make me giggle.

Hi Beth! Sorry to know that you are in pain. It is related to your health and please immediately go to a clinic and take the advice of a specialist. Never be late about any painful symptoms or call the doctor at your residence if you don't want to go to a clinic due to the fear of viruses sympathy words

Beth, I'm no help here but I hope you feel better. Keep us informed what you find out. My first thought was the possibility of shingles since it is on your bra line but that doesn't even make sense because it is on both sides. Feel better girl! And stay warm for crying out loud!!! BURRR!!
